Usually illegal or criminal activities relating to forgery or copying something unauthorized are carried out at basements of buildings.
One forger used to print fake currency notes in the basement of his house. One fine evening after printing some fake notes of high denominations he decided to print some Rs.50.00. notes also. When he was about to start, he received a phone call from someone. So, he put aside the job; he instructed his assistant to do the same and went out of the basement to attend the call.

While setting the knob of the pointer of the machine at Rs.50.00, the assistant set it at Rs.60.00 inadvertently and before he could re-check the settings, the power went off all of a sudden. There was complete darkness. Poor fellow did not want to remain in the darkness and wait for the power to come, so he also went out. He somehow forgot to switch off the power before leaving the basement.
When electricity was restored, the assistance came back to the basement. To his horror, he found that machine have already started to print Rs.60.00 notes. He immediately stopped it and called his boss.
After seeing the printed fake notes of denomination Rs. 60.00, the master forger said to his assistant,
” Don’t worry my dear, you need not destroy them. You only need to go to Asansol and try to exchange them with real currency. I know well that you will succeed.”
Our hero went to Asansol ;and at Bastin Bazar; as a ’test-check’, he took out one Rs.60.00 note; offered it to a shopkeeper and said,
” Look gentleman, RBI has issued a new Rs.60.00 note, I need change. Can you please help me?”
Shopkeeper examined the note and said,” Oh, sure! No problem whatsoever.”
He took the Rs. 60.00 note with a wry smile and in exchange handed over four Rs.15.00 notes to the assistant of the forger and said,
”Well, if you need further changes for Rs.15.00, you can go and try at the nearby town Raniganj, I assure you; there you will certainly get the changes you want!”
