Once upon a time there lived a king. He was a bit crazy. He was funny and his acts were very often unpredictable. Somehow, he was fed up with his throne and wanted to get rid of it, though the throne was made of pure gold .He ordered his soldiers to throw it into a jungle As there was hardly any other choice, they obeyed and did as they were told.. King also made an announcement through out the kingdom, to the effect that whosoever found the throne and tried to sell it would be hanged.
One very poor wood cutter used to live near the same jungle in a small hut. As he was extremely poor; his hut was made of bamboos, reeds, and wild grass etc. collected from the forest. One fine morning when he went to the forest to cut wood, he was overjoyed to find the throne lying near bushes.
He thought; his days of hardship would be over very soon. This throne of gold might fetch him a fortune! So, he brought the throne to his hut but wondered where to keep it. Unfortunately, he was not aware of the announcement. Incidentally, that very day, he had some work in the nearby village. When he went there, he came to know all about the king’s announcement..
He got very scared and hurriedly returned home to hide the throne, as his greed would not let him part with it. Nonetheless; he planned to sell the throne in the adjacent country, after some time in future; when people would forget about the announcement and decided to hide it till then. However, to his utter dismay, he could not find a suitable place. His hut was too small. Finding no suitable place to hide, he began pondering. Somehow an innovative idea came to his mind. He covered the throne with a cloth and hanged it over his ‘KHATIA’ with a rope.
Then the rainy season arrived. In the wet climate, quite naturally white ants got attracted by the thatched house. Instinctively they found their way to the rope by climbing the walls made of reeds and thatched roof. Slowly and slowly they started eating it .The rope gradually became thinner and its strength weakened. Alas! One dark night when he was asleep, the rope snapped and the throne fell on his head killing him instantaneously.
Moral of the story:
“ONE WHO LIVES IN A GRASS HOUSE SHOULD NOT STOW THRONES!”
